In December I enjoyed a week long visit with the Heils.
We devoured freshly baked baguettes at a French bakery; the birds were hovering nearby to catch our crumbs.
Crane Park is Lydia's favorite!
Lydia pushed the empty stroller during our walk home from town.
The pantry is a child's delight. The bottom shelf is all set up for Alexandra and Lydia!
Alexandra's first birthday was thoroughly celebrated!
There was a surprise visit from Santa Claus!
We enjoyed walking around St Helena, especially admiring this gingerbread house.
Matthew's office and the St Helena Montessori School are located near their parish, within walking distance of home-a great arrangement. It was fun to experience the Heil lifestyle!

Hey Mom,
These are terrifc pictures of your trip to St. Helena. It looks like you had a wonderful time with the Heils. I am so glad you had that time with them. I haavent seen any of these picture yet, so it was good to get a glimpse into your trip. Thanks for sharing!
Love to you and Dad,
Cath
Lorrie, I LOVE these pictures. I haven't seen Jen, Matt and the girls in so long, I can't believe how much they've changed (the girls). In all of the pictures Alexandra looks a lot like Lydia, but there's one picture in the beginning of your post, where she looks exactly like Lydia looked last year when we were together at your house.
And even though I can see Jen's point that Lydia greatly resembles Matt, the truth of the matter is that in every picture of Lydia I am forcible reminded of an adorable 2 year old Jenny Pierce. I don't know if its her hair or face or what, but I think Lydia looks SOOO much like Jen. I know Jaye has said that before, too.
Anyway, thanks for posting these. Like I said on Catherine's blog recently, its so much fun to get glimpses of your daughters' married lives and their families.
This is where internet technology is pretty awesome.
Love you,
Teresa
Ditto to everything Teresa said. Seeing Jen and Matt and the girls with you in these shots is so fabulous! I can't believe Alexandra is already one! She and Lydia will be such great playmates as they get older. And I agree with Teresa in that I also can see an adorable two year old Jenny in Lydia's face.
I am now dying to get back to California and see Jen in St. Helena. It's cold here in Illinois!
